Positioning System

A laser positioning system is used on the horizontal axis. A reflector is mounted at the end of the aisle and the positioner is mounted on the machine. It senses it’s position within 1/16″. The vertical system uses a punched code bar and a read head. This system is absolute and has a tolerance of .076″. Therefore the SR/F knows where it is (both Horizontally and Vertically) at all times. All of the load addresses in the aisle are then precisely “definable” in both the horizontal and vertical axis. There is no dependence on addresses being precisely stacked vertically because the S/R machine must “locate” from just one horizontal position for each “bay”. Any combination of address locations can be set up to accommodate any rack layout. In essence, each defined location has its own set of coordinates.

RACKS

More importantly, racks and their layout can be changed by the user. The system coordinates can then be easily redefined in the end of aisle (E.O.A.) Controlling PC.
