Q: How do I know whether a Vertical Lift or Vertical Carousel is the best solution for my application?
A: Vertical Lift storage provides greater flexibility in handling different parts sizes, weights and accessibility. If your application offers generous ceiling height (up to 41′), and parts change often, a Vertical Lift may be your best option. On the other hand, if your parts are uniformly small and ceiling heights are 15′ or lower, a Vertical Carousel is probably the system for you. Great for small parts storage, mro parts and more.
Q: Will the totes I use now fit into a Vertical Lift system?
A: Probably. In most cases, storage totes used in manual operations can be used when companies upgrade to automated storage systems.
Q: Can I limit access to our new system to better control inventories?
A: Access to modern Vertical Lift systems is controlled by locking access doors and software passwords. You provide passwords only to authorized personnel, thus blocking system access to other personnel.
Q: Do I have to shut down my operation to install a new Vertical Lift system, and how long does installation take?
A: No. Most often, systems can be installed with minimal interruption while you continue your daily operations. Factory trained installation technicians can get your new system up and running in about 2-3 days per installed module.
Q: We currently print pick tickets from our mainframe warehouse management system. Can we interface with a new Vertical Lift system to pick orders automatically?
A: Sure. You can purchase optional Q-Manager software that lets you download orders from your existing system, select orders to be processed, print a pick ticket and prompt for delivery of the ordered parts.
Q: Can we use our existing inventory management software with a new Vertical Lift system?
A: Yes. Vertical Lift modules are compatible with the latest upgrades of most popular inventory management software packages.
Q: Will a new automated Vertical Lift system eliminate the need for crib attendants?
A: In many cases, yes. Because parts can be accessed 24/7 by authorized personnel without personal assistance, payroll can often be reduced. Or, crib personnel time can be invested in cycle counting inventory, stocking parts or tracking problem orders.
Q: How many line items can a Vertical Lift system handle and how much space can we expect to save?
A: In general, up to 3,500 line items can be stored in each module, depending on ceiling height. The number of modules is limited only by available floor space. You can expect to store up to 25 times more products per square foot. Each module holds the equivalent of 25-50 sections of standard warehouse shelving.
